Patagonia is giving $10 millions of Trump’s tax cut to environmental organizations

This holiday season, the outdoor clothing brand Patagonia is giving away the $10 million derived from the tax cuts imposed by President Trump to environmental associations.

Regarding this issue, Rose Marcario, CEO of Patagonia, stated on Linkedin: “Based on last year’s irresponsible tax cut, Patagonia will owe less in taxes this year—$10 million less, in fact. Instead of putting the money back into our business, we’re responding by putting $10 million back into the planet. Our home planet needs it more than we do”.

“Taxes protect the most vulnerable in our society, our public lands and other life-giving resources – concluded Macario – in spite of this, the Trump administration initiated a corporate tax cut, threatening these services at the expense of our planet”.

Since 1985, Patagonia gives 1% of its profits to support environmental organizations all over the world, funding activists struggling to protect the environment in the countries and communities where the same company is involved. The donation of 10 million dollars will be added to the funds allocated to NGOs that are fighting to defend the planet, including the regenerative biological agriculture movement, which, according to Marcario, “will not only slow down the climate crisis, but could start to reverse it”.

The California company’s announcement coincided with the spread of the US government agencies’ report on the devastating impact on the environmental damage economy.
