PATAGONIA CELEBRATES THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ICONIC R1 FLEECE
Patagonia, the californian brand specialized in the production of technical garments designed for outdoor sports, celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the iconic R1, the famous light and breathable intermediate layer that accompanied the great athletes during their great adventures. In fact, the “Done in R1” campaign retraces the great achievements that have been made over the years along with the Patagonia fleece: Talkeetna, Denali, Grand Tetons, Davils Thumb, Mont Blanc, Cerro Torre, Zion, Yosemite and many others. Tommy Caldwell, has climbed the Dawn Wall in Yosemite with his R1, Luke Nelson, raced the 100 miles wearing one and to celebrate this important milestone the two Patagonia ambassadors for climbing, Nico Favresse and Sean Villanueva O’Driscoll have made a beautiful and fun music video clip to pay tribute to their companion in adventures!
Here some new R1 models for the new SS19 season:
R1 Full-Zip Hoody. The fleece with hood and integral zip R1 offers great versatility for activities throughout the year, from rocks to peaks. The fabric of which the product is made is Polartec Power Grid (with Polygiene technology for permanent odor control): light and breathable, it offers excellent flexibility and resistance. The wrap-around hood fits comfortably under the helmet with zippered accommodation in the contoured chin area and softly lined for added comfort on the skin. Two low-profile handwarmer pockets: the right-hand pocket has an internal zippered pocket to protect valuables. Elasticated cuffs rise comfortably over the forearms.
R1 Pullover Hoody. The R1 with hood is a technical fleece designed for our most demanding ambassadors, climbers and alpinists. The fabric of which the product is made is Polartec Power Grid (with Polygiene technology for permanent odor control): The shoulder-strapped seams fit comfortably under the shoulder straps of the backpack. Deep center-front zip for rapid ventilation of excess heat. Sleeves with concealed buttonholes for the thumbs, to offer the hands more protection when the cold is intense. Length of the bust increased by 2.5 cm for more comfort under the harness or the ventral belt of the backpack.
R1 Techface Pullover. An updated version of the classic R1 line, now with a durable exterior and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish to guarantee maximum flexibility in changing weather conditions. Warm, stretchy and breathable as you would expect from a Regulator fleece sweatshirt, but with the added benefits of resistance to abrasion and weathering for greater versatility in ever-changing mountain conditions. Model also available in the hooded version and in several colors.
W’s R1 Crew. Our simple R1 Crew fleece has a contemporary line and a particular style for stratification at low temperatures. Crew-neck model available only in the female version and in different colors.
