Patagonia opens new store in Amsterdam
Patagonia opens its first store in the Netherlands in Amsterdam, designed to be not only a store but also a space dedicated to local activists and sports communities. The store, located in the historic Singel 465-467 location, offers a wide range of products for outdoor sports, including snow sports, climbing, and trail running, and will periodically host community-focused events such as repair workshops, screenings, and public talks.
Founded by Yvon Chouinard in 1973 in Ventura, California, the outdoor apparel company is in business to save our planet and is internationally recognized for its unwavering commitment to the highest quality products and environmental activism. In 2022 it changed its corporate structure in that its sole shareholder is now the planet.
Patagonia has a total of 12 stores and has a presence with its products inside specialty outdoor retailers throughout Europe. The brand’s first store in the Netherlands, the Amsterdam store is located at the former RoXY Club, an iconic location in the city that played a crucial role in the development of house and techno culture in the 1990s and was renowned for hosting extravagant performance art of all kinds.
