Wear it even if it’s used: Patagonia thrift shop.

The used clothes of the iconic brand have been sold at a special price to sensitize citizens to a more sustainable purchasing behavior.

Patagonia, the international company recognized internationally for its environmental vocation, Saturday 6th October opened the doors of a second-hand shop in Milan for just one day, with the aim of encouraging all citizens to make better purchases.

Taking care of our clothes and repairing them when necessary is the best thing we can do to reduce the environmental impact on the planet: in this way it will no longer be necessary to buy new products, avoiding the generation of CO2 emissions, the production of waste, and the consumption of water associated with the production cycles of the textile industry.

The idea behind this initiative – which refers to the Patagonia motto “Better than new!” – brings together the three cornerstones of the brand’s mission: “Build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis”.

The Via Tortona temporary shop gave people the chance to choose and buy a product of the iconic brand at a special price.

The day’s earnings, a total of 21,217€, were entirely donated to charity to four Italian non-profit organizations:

Mountain Wilderness Italia, that fights to defend and recover the last untouched spaces on the planet;

Cittadini per l’Aria, that has chosen to commit to defend the right to breathe clean air;

Genitori Antismog, which carries out awareness and education actions for sustainable mobility;

Io non ho paura del lupo, an association that aims to promote the conservation and cohabitation between the wolf and human activities.
