Polartec & Must Had launch collaboration to find new circular solutions in the textile industry

According to several studies, the textile industry is second in the world in terms of pollution rate due to its huge use of environmental resources and the millions of tons of waste that are generated each year. In this context, apparel companies and textile manufacturers play a crucial role in generating real change within the industry and helping to raise consumer awareness of this important issue. Polartec, a leader in the creation of innovative and sustainable textile solutions, has since its inception linked its corporate mission to sustainability, offering viable alternatives without ever sacrificing quality and performance, supporting the innovative projects also carried out by other companies. To further strengthen this intent, Polartec announced on Jan. 25 a partnership with Must Had, a cutting-edge startup and benefit company that supports textile companies in the circular management of their excess end-of-life materials, turning them into real opportunities.

Thanks to the SaaS platform developed by the young Italian company, the U.S. company will be able to map and digitize the excess goods in its warehouses and, through a dedicated algorithm, find the most suitable circular solutions and partners for waste management, receiving tangible data on the environmental, social and economic savings achieved. The entire process will be tracked to provide transparency along the supply chain and ensure that materials actually undertake circular flows. This virtuous partnership is based on the sharing of common values and will find concrete realization through the activation of numerous projects aimed at the revaluation of Polartec’s disused materials. The collaboration between the two entities was inaugurated at the latest edition of Winter Business Days, an annual fair dedicated to winter sports held in Ponte di Legno Jan. 28-30.
For the occasion Must Had, in collaboration with upcycling designer Ilaria Ferrari, created a production of blankets and sports accessories using only discarded Polartec materials that have been given a new life. Ethical, functional and personalized products have become comfortable gadgets for the winter season. An Upcycling workshop has also been activated where each accessory will be customized by hand. Must Had and Polartec will have opportunities to work on other joint initiatives throughout the year, in the ongoing search for circular solutions that can reduce the environmental impact of the textile industry.
