Save The Duck meets the tradition of the Brokpa population

The 100% animal free brand is inspired for the Fall Winter 20/21 collection by the colors of the Himalayan peaks and the customs of local communities.

Save The Duck, Italian brand 100% animal free and cruelty free, continues its evolution in terms of research and development: the Urban and the Main Collection of Fall Winter 20/21 are in fact inspired by the study of the customs and habits of the Brokpa population, a community of Himalayan shepherds settled in the fertile valley of Kashmir for over 2000 years.
The Brokpa community is mainly located in four villages, all located north of the imposing Himalayan Mountain: Hanu, Dah, Garkon and Darchiks villages. Here, among the green pastures of the Ladakhi valley, you can still admire the peculiarities of this fascinating community and the natural environment that surrounds it.
Despite the harsh temperatures in the valley, the population managed for years to survive on a diet free of animal products, observing a philosophy that was quite unique at the time. However, climate change has forced the Brokpa people to adapt their age-old eating habits, inevitably opening the doors to the search for new energy and protein sources in meat, dairy products and eggs.
The ability to transform and shape age-old habits and customs is perhaps the most characteristic aspect of this people, which can be defined as 100% resilient. This last aspect has been of great inspiration for the Urban and the Main Collection of Save The Duck, which since its birth creates ethical products, respecting the ecosystems that characterize our planet.
The social and economic shock suffered by the Brokpa people pushed Save The Duck to tell this transformation, symbol of a world in perpetual change, through the FW 20/21 collection. The brand’s desire is to offer the public garments in continuous evolution, highly technological and modern, designed for those who do not want to give up a metropolitan style with strong outdoor appeal. The collection is mainly inspired by the wheel of bold colors that characterize the Brokpa community: starting from warm and enveloping colors, to cold and arctic shades, reminiscent of the snowy peaks and glaciers of the Himalayas.
The use of evocative colors has always been an expedient used by rural people to be easily recognized by members of their community, wherever they are: in this way the color becomes a form of identification and strong recognizability.
In the same way, Save The Duck has decided to create a distinctive line that allows everyone who wears the collection to be recognizable in the urban jungle in which we live today and, in the same way, to recall the spirit of nature in the city.
