Save The Duck on the summit of K2 with Mingma Tenzi

The mountaineer and the 100% animal-free brand make mountaineering history. This is the second incredible record for Save The Duck at 8000 metres.

Save The Duck reaches the summit: thanks to mountaineer and Sherpa Mingma Tenzi, the 100% animal free and cruelty free brand is once again able to change the rules of the game, making the impossible possible: reaching the summit of K2 with a completely sustainable down jacket.

After accompanying Kuntal A. Joisher and making history with him for reaching the summit of Everest in a suit specially made by Save The Duck, Mingma has crossed a new border that until now seemed unreachable to cross. K2, with its 8609 metres, is the second highest peak in the world right after Everest, and is known by all for the large amount of snow, the risk of avalanches and temperatures at -60°, characteristics that make it a real “savage mountain”, wild and terribly fascinating to climb.

Reaching the summit of K2 in a vegan suit, 100% goose down free, marks a new record not only for Mingma and Save The Duck, who believed in this ambitious project from the beginning, but for the entire world of mountaineering. The Italian brand once again demonstrates how research, innovation and the development of sustainable technologies are a valid and concrete alternative to garments made with animal derivatives, proving that it can change the patterns of fashion and the outdoor world.

Climbing a mountain is a challenge that all mountaineers undertake, knowing that they have to face pitfalls, delicate moments and more dangerous than others. Confronting nature requires training of body and mind, aimed at achieving a state of equilibrium that allows the success of a feat as impressive as climbing K2 in winter. This latest expedition was particularly challenging and complex, but it also proved to be glorious and unforgettable, surrounded by a landscape that had never before been seen in this adverse season.
