SCARPA strengthens its collaboration with the Giro d’Italia

The Asolo-based company is the Official Supplier of the 104th edition of the event and for the first time a partner in the Ride Green!

SCARPA, Italian company leader in the production of mountain and outdoor footwear, consolidates its collaboration with the Giro d’Italia, confirming its growing commitment to environmental sustainability.

For the second consecutive year, the company from Veneto is the Official Supplier of the famous sport event, whose 104th edition will start on Saturday 8th May with a time trial stage in Turin. Always synonymous with outdoor sports and Made in Italy quality, SCARPA will support the most famous cycling competition in Italy by providing all the staff with a special “limited edition” of the Mojito Bio, the first certified 100% biodegradable shoe produced by the company. Entirely made with components of vegetable origin, the new shoe, once it reaches the end of its life cycle, is able to decompose ten times faster than a normal shoe, greatly reducing the environmental impact.

The association between SCARPA and the Giro d’Italia is enriched this year by a further element. For the first time, the company is an official partner of Ride Green, the eco-sustainable project dedicated to safeguarding the environment for the collection, recycling and recovery of waste, which runs along the stages of the Giro to raise awareness of the principles of sustainability in municipalities and cities.

“Our company and the Giro d’Italia are profoundly linked by a common intent: to give priority to the low environmental impact of their activities – comments Sandro Parisotto, president of SCARPA – If, on the one hand, the Giro has for many years been an important vehicle of values linked to sustainability, through the many initiatives organized on the territory, on the other hand SCARPA has launched the Green Manifesto, a programmatic commitment that aligns our activity with the best international standards in terms of sustainability. Our presence at the Giro 2021 d’Italia is part of this mission, providing all participants with the Mojito Bio, the first biodegradable footwear produced by our company, and supporting the brand in a beautiful and noble project such as Ride Green”.

The Mojito Bio footwear will be officially presented in Cortina on May 24 during an event scheduled at the end of the 16th stage of the Giro. The shoes will be available on SCARPA’s e-commerce and during the stages of the Giro d’Italia.
