Test: Armada Tracer 98

Test: Armada Tracer 98

The flagship model of Armada’s Tracer Line is an all mountain solution that aims (and achieves) a simple goal: having fun.

The Armada Tracer 98 is a ski designed to offer all mountain versatility and reliability. Two peculiarities that are immediately noticeable on fresh snow as well as on beaten snow, where it is fast and agile thanks to the construction of the edges. Its vocation remains oriented to touring and freeriding, the ideal snow condition to fully enjoy its qualities: the EST All-Mountain Rocker system in fact guarantees a happy balance between floatation and manoeuvrability, which is truly remarkable in our opinion. The speed and lightweight of the Tracer 98 stimulate the skier to reach the limits of the tool but the result remains the same: you will have the impression of having under your feet a model designed to have fun, even if probably not optimal for high speeds. The sudden changes of direction between the trees are extremely facilitated by its construction, it is also performing when tackling challenging descents full of bumps or characterized by different consistencies of snow. A final note on the lightest average weight in its category: skins and ski mountaineering bindings are a happy option for the Tracer 98, a true all mountain companion.

We Like: Manoeuvrability, control and reliability, capable of guaranteeing a day on the snow full of fun and adventure, even when you go from beaten to fresh snow (and vice versa).
