Test: La Sportiva Aequilibrium St Gtx

Aequilibrium, the new concept of modern mountaineering.

The perfect balance between comfort and technicality, lightweight and durability. Aequilibrium St Gtx, an absolute 2021 news by La Sportiva, is a technical hiking boot ideal for via ferratas, trekking, ice and mixed crossings. The ergonomic upper, enveloping and precise, integrates anti-abrasion shells in TPU on the toe and heel to reinforce the HoneyComb Guard fabric. The 3D Flex directional joint with shaped and protected malleolus allows better control of the support and perfect mobility of the ankle.

The lacing is fast and meticulous, the wearing comfort is accentuated by the integrated bellows tongue and the soft snow guard on the collar. Durability and lightweight coexist in harmony thanks to the new sole/midsole package with diversified shock-absorbing elements (external Rubber Guard shell and internal foam material). But it is in the heel that we found a unique news: the innovative Double Heel geometry with double gusset (very pronounced and raised) which increases the braking effect on the descent, softening the support and allowing a smoother rolling while reducing muscle fatigue.

The sole is completed by the innovative Vibram SpringLug Tech tread with PU with a wide and spacious design that prevents the accumulation of snow and debris. Aequilibrium ST GTX is a perfect mix of materials that will help you to move fast in the mountains. Lightweight and performing, it is perfect for 3000m hikes.

We Like: The exceptional walkability of the Double Heel system.
