Test: La Sportiva Ultra Raptor II Mid GTX

Test: La Sportiva Ultra Raptor II Mid GTX

Ideal for fast hiking and excursions with light loads.

The mid cut version of the famous trail running model, an extremely interesting hiking hybrid. It collects the DNA of an endurance shoe (capable of combining comfort and the advantages of a containment construction) with the addition of functional details typical of the world of hiking: a higher structure and a waterproof and breathable membrane. The soft collar protects the ankle from the entry of stones or mud, integrating an easy-fit spoiler that facilitates the fit. It gave us a feeling of stability and protection even in the case of uneven terrain faced at an intense pace. The rear stabilizer heel consolidates the walk on ridges.

The lacing system is integrated with an upper, with high-frequency reinforcements on the external mesh, that allows to distribute the tension and better wrap the foot, which has ample room to move in the front part. The EVA midsole, which maintains the same drop, absorbs impacts to the ground in a soft and elastic way. The FriXion White sole with XF compound offers great lateral stability. The design of the tread with its low depth well adapted to hard and dry ground. The accentuated curvature allows you to face the ground with a constant grip. The result is a hiking shoe that can be worn for many consecutive hours, an all-rounder model hard to beat.

We Like: Perfect volume adjustment and foot wrapping.
