Test: Lowe Alpine Revolt 25

Test: Lowe Alpine Revolt 25

An exciting ski touring and free touring backpack. Well studied and optimized.

Revolt is the new Lowe Alpine offer for the ski mountaineering and free touring segment, part of a specific collection called Khroma, intended for those who love both the ascent and the descent. Revolt, available in 25 or 35 liter sizes, actually replaces the Descent series, already an excellent example of quality and workmanship. This version, for day trips in the backcountry, proves to be really well studied, robust, practical, reliable, even for those who want to tackle technical descents. The backpack features a clean silhouette in a beautiful and elegant navy blue and burgundy combination. It uses the Tri-Flex carrying system, a three-part structure consisting of a harmonic steel frame, EVA back panel and padded belt. The whole provides an ideal balance to guarantee support on fully loaded climbs and body twisting during descents. The initial fitting requires some confidence and proper chest adjustments. In fact, the weight is mostly on the lumbar belt and hips, completely relieving the shoulders. Revolt 25 can carry a set of skis in the typical A-Frame mode or in the diagonal option, supported by an intelligent retractable loop (which also allows you to vertically fix a snowboard).

The large main compartment, also accessible from the rear panel, is anticipated by a waterproof quick-access section with separate pockets to properly stow the emergency material (shovel, probe) and a print with SOS signals. The front panel uses super strong 420D fabric to support contact with the edges. The options are completed with a top pocket for small items, daisy chain along the edges, HeadLocker attachment system for ice ax, Stowaway helmet holder retractable on the bottom. Overall, the Revolt 25 stands out for its impressive comfort and stability. Thought out in every detail, such as the low amount of seams, the sealed zippers, the large 3-way buckles that can be opened with gloves and the hidden details that increase durability and functionality. Lowe Alpine has focused all of its experience in the field by designing an extremely viable and lean option, something we have been thrilled to try.

We Like: Access to the main compartment from the rear panel.
