Test: Zamberlan Salathé GTX RR

Test: Zamberlan Salathé GTX RR

Control and stability from the bottom of the valley to the top.

Climbing and hiking come together in the new X-Active models by Zamberlan. Salathé was developed to meet the needs of those looking for a product that can be worn “from the car to the top”. Baptized with the name of one of the climbing monuments, the iconic big wall of El Captain, it was created for via ferratas and technical approaches. The particular height, called “up-cut”, combines the freedom of a low shoe with the protection of a medium cut. The fit is snug and precise thanks to the use of elastic materials and a specific construction with micrometric lacing up to the toe which gives greater control.

The embossed suede upper has a specific patented Hydroblock treatment to optimize waterproofing, resistance and durability. The stretch tongue, elastic and breathable, considerably increases the comfort of fit, as well as the preformed collar. The microporous midsole has two different densities, with a construction that gives the shoe cushioning, protection and torsional rigidity. The X-Active Fit, with a new anatomical base designed for the Salathé and Half Dome models, made the fit snug and allowed us to safely tackle climbs and descents. A 100% Made in Italy product whose strength is stability. Much more than an approach shoe, the comfort and versatility make it ideal also for trekking.

We Like: Its unusual height, a perfect synthesis between mid and low models.
