The North Face assigns the first contribution in support of the crisis

The North Face assigns to the association Rifugi di Lombardia the contribution to support the outdoor world affected by the crisis.

For more than 50 years, The North Face’s goal has been to advance the world through exploration, an action that unites and lifts individuals both as individuals and as members of a global community.

During this challenging year, The North Face has confirmed this commitment through concrete actions and last April allocated €1 million to support the outdoor communities that make exploration possible across Europe and that have been hard hit by the health emergency.

The North Face has received an incredible number of applications that have been carefully evaluated, with the difficult task of selecting the realities to be awarded this Fund.

One of the first choices was an Italian reality: Rifugi Di Lombardia

This Association, located in one of the Italian regions most affected by COVID19, is committed to promoting activities in the mountains with the aim of creating complete and immersive experiences for all those who turn to Refuges of Lombardy.

“Lombardy has paid a particularly heavy tribute to the coronavirus emergency and it is undeniable that this will have a long-term impact on the tourism sector. The refuges are essential in order to protect the mountain and support enthusiasts and hikers. They are integral realities of mountain life and the history of the Alps. We therefore want to continue to provide concrete support to the 140 Lombardy refuges that are an active part in the promotion of the mountains because we want to offer people the right mix of fun, adventure and culture that will allow them to fully immerse themselves in nature,” said Elena Marinoni, volunteer and communications manager of the Lombardy Refuges Association.
