The North Face Summit Vectiv Pro tested by The Pill
The new ultradistance shoe from The North Face
With 2023 The North Face has completely revised its shoe offering by introducing two products dedicated to the racing segment. This spring we reviewed Vectiv Sky, dedicated to short distances and verticals, and this fall we review Vectiv Pro, designed for long distances. Vectiv Pro is a rather tall and protective model with 31mm at the heel, a wide forefoot fit and a very wide tread pattern, nevertheless, its weight remains well under 300 grams, mainly due to a very light midsole foam. The upper is developed with a wide-weave plastic material mesh, is very light and naturally very breathable, just because of its structure. It still protects the fingers thanks to TPU reinforcements placed on this area. The tongue wraps around the foot in the medial part making the fit snug on the instep but leaving plenty of room on the toebox. The midsole is made of Vectiv 2.0 foam, which manages to combine cushoning and responsiveness well. The feel at the run is not easily comparable to other models: it has a springy effect reminiscent of road shoes, thanks to soft foam combined with a carbon plate that is not felt at the run but gives structure and overall stability to the midsole. The tread uses the typical Surface-CTRL compound with The North Face’s signature butterfly-shaped tread block. The feel to the run is very pleasant and does not make it an exclusive shoe, despite the carbon: we recommend it to a wide and diverse audience.
