Vibram was awarded with the “Premio dei Premi” for innovation
The X edition of the award ceremony for the 2018 National Award for Innovation “Premio dei Premi” has been recently held at the Koch Hall of the Senate of the Republic, in which Vibram received the ambitious recognition by the President of the Senate, Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, acting as the President of the Republic. Vibram, for over 80 years world leader in the field of high performance rubber soles, reached this new goal thanks to the ADI (Italian Design Association), as a company already winner of the ADI Design Index 2017 Innovation Award with the Vibram Furoshiki project The Wrapping Sole.
The National Award for Innovation “Premio dei Premi” was established at the Foundation COTEC (Fondazione per l’innovazione tecnologica)with the decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of 7th April 2008, with the concession of the President of the Italian Republic, and was established with the aim of improving the technological competitiveness of Italian companies. “We are extremely proud of this award, and excited to receive it at such an important location for our country as the Senate of the Republic” stated Paolo Manuzzi, General Manager Vibram, and then continued “Vibram has always believed in innovation as a factor of success for the Italian company. Our goal is to offer the market always new and original solutions, thinking about the performance and functionality requirements”.
Vibram Furoshiki The Wrapping Sole was awarded for the project that develops an innovative Vibram sole that continues on the upper to wrap the feet of every morphology in all conditions, guaranteeing a personalized fit and exceptional comfort. Inspired by the Japanese art of furoshiki, which allows the wrapping of any type of object in a single fabric, Vibram Furoshiki The Wrapping Sole is made of a Vibram XS City rubber sole, which guarantees durability and grip on urban surfaces. The fabric selected by the company to make the upper is Sensitive Fabrics by Eurojersey.
In 2018 Vibram Furoshiki The Wrapping Sole was also awarded with the most prestigious recognition in the design world, the Compasso d’Oro Award, on the basis of a pre-selection made by the ADI’s Permanent Design Observatory, after several other successes including the Compasso d’Oro International Award Award on the theme “Sport – Performance and Innovation”, the “Grand Award” of the Design for Asia Awards 2017 in Hong Kong and the Excellence Design Intelligence Award at the China Academy of Art, in Hangzhou.
