Ortovox remains true to its values of innovation and sustainability, improving its products season after season. For winter 2023, the results speak for themselves: the ski mountaineering and freeride collections are carbon neutral.

Since its origins, the main goal at Ortovox has always been to ensure safety, innovation and specialization, while trying to maintain a sustainable key. Indeed, since 2018, the internal ProtACT 2024 project has been launched, which defines the brand’s goals for reducing and offsetting its carbon footprint. These goals have already been achieved for this season, 18 months ahead of schedule. This mainly concerns production and distribution processes, as well as the choice of materials used.

The ski mountaineering and freeride collections for the upcoming winter season are advocates for this sustainable change, while maintaining the performance needed to best support athletes on their powder adventures.

THE SKI MOUNTAINEERING COLLECTION
The line focuses on lightness, comfort and protection. Among the materials, wool from the Swisswool initiative is used to support local economies and farmers. In other cases, especially the parts in direct contact with the skin, soft, warm and breathable Tasmanian Merino wool is used instead. Among the many new products from Ortovox, we decided to tell you about the garments that best encapsulate the main features of the collection.

Col Becchei Hybrid Jacket
A softshell jacket made from a combination of natural fibers and synthetic materials. On the outside it uses Tec Stretch, a stretchy, water-repellent and windproof material, while the inner lining is made of Tasmanian Merino wool that can ensure thermoregulation and comfort. It is complemented by protective insulating inserts made of 60g Swisswool and Merino Naturetec Light.

Thermovent Hoody
Sweatshirt made of 99% Merino wool perfect as a baselayer. The mesh structure on the torso and arms allows high ventilation while maintaining proper internal thermoregulation. It is made with the flat-knitting technique that avoids the production of waste scraps.

THE FREERIDE COLLECTION
Since last winter season, the Freeride collection could boast the title of a climate-neutral line. For this W23, Ortovox continued on its path by expanding the product range with lots of new features.

2L Swisswool Sedrun Jacket
Hardshell with Dermizax EV membrane on the outside with windproof and waterproof properties. The inner lining is made of Swisswool Black. It uses 60 g/m2 padding in the front, back area, sleeves and hood. Features include adjustable cuffs, front pockets and an integrated Merino mesh pocket, which is useful for storing your cell phone.
