An avalanche search and transmission device that is a guarantee in terms of both ease of use and performance

Mammut Barryvox S

The Barryvox S has established itself in recent years as one of the most reliable Arva’s ever. For those of you who are not familiar with it, it is a combined digital/analog device with three antennas. The new Barryvox S has a wide receive bandwidth and an effective search strip width of 70 meters. In terms of use, we find its operation decidedly intuitive, combined with a broad interface. In the search phase, the Smart Search function provides clear instructions through a simple operating concept and a quick and accurate search giving effective support to the rescuer. The Barryvox S also includes the Rescue Send function to protect rescuers who are doing something else, without interfering with the signal of the buried. In fact, in case of a secondary avalanche, the device automatically switches to Send mode to locate buried rescuers. Let’s talk, however, about the features that stand out on days when, fortunately, no avalanche event happens and only basic technologies are used: we really liked the way the device performs the group check and the self-check to be done at the beginning of the trip, very fast and smooth. In addition, we found the screen, equipped with background illumination, easily viewable even with polarized glasses. The design of the device is ergonomic, anti-impact and break-proof. It turns out to be very easy to use with gloves on and in your pocket, or chest, the bulk and weight are really small.
