Ride, Bike, Climb, VOTE!

POW reminder: VOTE! June 8 and 9 Go to the polls and choose for your planet

We are facing the most crucial time of the year for our environment and the future of our planet

In 2024 we beat the (negative) records in terms of rising global average temperatures and the greenhouse gas emissions, but this week 2 billion people around the world will go to the polls, including 400 million European citizens who have right to vote and will have the opportunity to Make a difference for Europe.

It is an extremely important year for democracy and consequently for combating the climate crisis. European elections are a key tool to strengthen our ability to move from activism to politics, pushing for the election of representatives who can protect and sustain our natural world.

That’s why POW-Protect Our Winter, theNGO fighting for climate protection in the mountains, launched the ‘Ride, Bike, Climb, Vote’ campaign to draw attention to the importance of voting and to clearly and neatly define what we expect from the new European Parliament within a manifesto .

Not sure how and when to vote? Find out here!

POW-Protect Our Winter, theNGO that fights for climate protection in the mountains

Protect Our Winters (POW for short) Italy is the Italian “branch” of an organization that operates in various countries around the world. It was born in the United States from an idea of professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones. POW works on the issues of climate change, human impact on the planet, and biodiversity loss particularly in mountainous settings, addressing the community of mountain enthusiasts (whether hiking, running, skiing, or snowboarding) who love the mountains.

POW in general works on various issues and at different levels, from the extremely local (such as the impact of the construction of a bobsled track in the city of Cortina) to the supranational, with mobilizations that transcend national borders and are carried out with our European “cousins.” The mobilization campaign for the European elections that we are telling you about here is an example of this. POW also produced a scoreboard of the European Parliament
#VoteNatureAlliance
divided by country, in which political parties are given scores from 0 to 100 based on their votes on laws of relevance to sustainability.

The Pill fully supports the POW initiative, sharing its principles and initiatives. On the other hand, loving nature and the outdoors means that too, fighting for it to remain everyone’s right!
