Test: Fisher Transalp 90 Carbon

Test: Fisher Transalp 90 Carbon

A versatile and solid ski for ski touring in the Alps. Lightweight and solid.

For this winter the Fischer Transalp Carbon got bigger: two millimeters more under the foot but unchanged weight. Sounds like a joke right? But it’s not. With 1230 grams per ski it will satisfy skiers looking for a model that is light enough, fun and at a reasonable price. The Fischer Transalp 90 Carbon allows you to ski on different types of snow remaining stable and reliable. Carbon Tex technology not only makes it light but also resistant: vibrations are significantly reduced even at high speeds. The ski consists of a wood core combined with ABS sidewalls in a classic Sandwich construction, for a harmonious flex and good rebound. At the level of sensations The Fischer Transalp 90 Carbon is very manoeuvrable and easy to use: it does not require great effort when cornering and supports the transmission impressed by the skier. On powder snow, flour and firn it is a playful ski, but although it performs well at medium speeds, it is not a model for those who interpret the slope with the fewest possible curves and at full throttle. On crusty snow it has limits as is normal for a light ski with a carbon construction, but compared to other skis of a similar concept the Titanal reinforcement guarantees good stability on descents. On powder you can use it and have fun, but it is on solid spring snow that it shines for its qualities, with excellent stability and edge grip. Versatile enough, we also recommend it for steep skiing, but especially for those who want to stay light with respectable width model under their feet.
