Hybridization reaches its zenith with the Mind Expander Twin, which blends diametrically opposed elements to offer the ultimate playful machine. Floaty Fun Freestyler is the payoff that describes the nature of this board and our tests only confirm that. Obviously we need to consider Jones’ starting point: all their boards are born to float. That said, despite the generous dimension and the Christenson Surf Camber with rocked tips, the Mind Expander Twin is agile in changes of direction and not at all bulky to carry on transitions, where it turns out to be really fun and, thanks to raised contact points on the 3D contour base, very forgiving of sloppy landings. When you ride it in soft snow the bar goes up further: Jeremy and his team know how to realize a weapon that splits powder without sacrificing control, add the surf camber/rocker and what you get is a butter and soft landing machine which behaves like a freestyle board in the park. Having to find a negative point, we can only say that, like all Jones’ boards, they are not really suitable for those who have never really tried a snowboard, but on the other hand, we believe those who choose the Mind Expander Twin have very clear ideas.

We Like: Generous, excellent in floatation but not slow on the hardpack and in the park: an excellent compromise.
