Test: Line Vision 98

Test: Line Vision 98

A versatile solution to face different types of “environment” without fear and without compromise, from ski touring to backcountry.

Vision 98 is a ski designed by Line to offer versatility on different types of snow. In fact, thanks to its technical features, it is able to excel during touring thanks to a truly remarkable lightness and in the backcountry, without losing its effectiveness on the beaten snow on groomers (mainly due to the construction and the lack of width). At the heart of its construction (and lightness) is the THC technology, or Triple Hybrid Construction: the paulownia and maple wood core is joined by aramid, carbon and fiberglass, three elements that, when laminated together, are able to guarantee a really even feeling underfoot. The result is a truly surprising handling when tested on different types of snow, as well as a torsional stiffness that seems almost contradictory to the remarkable lightweight of the Vision 98: we can therefore say that the weight/force ratio is truly remarkable. The stability, power transmission and control of the tool (which contributes to the absorption of vibrations due to the Sidewall Construction in polyethylene and the camber under the feet) that we have found have not deprived us in any way of the fun on fresh snow. The profile of the Vision 98 is in fact specifically designed to offer the best in powder, with an optimal float guaranteed by the directional shape and the rocker in the tip and tail, which make skiing more manageable in curves.

We Like: The ideal lightweight also for ascents with skins and the ability to have fun on all types of snow.
