Blizzard’s new Zero G LT80 skis

A new ski to climb higher, go farther and ski steeper

Reaching the summit using rope, ice axe and crampons after a long approach with skins, then plunging up the steepness of a wall or into the narrows of a gully leaving a perfect line on pristine terrain requires a nimble, lightweight, under-kilogram ski capable of reliability and performance.

To address these needs, Blizzard has designed the new Zero G LT 80 ski. “We developed the Zero G LT 80 to bring the characteristic downhill performance of Blizzard skis even in the sub-kilogram ski touring category,” explains Carlo Sammartini, Blizzard product manager. “To achieve this goal, we combined the advantages of our unique and sophisticated Trueblend Woodcore construction with state-of-the-art carbon technologies in a carefully tuned design.”

In fact, the secret to superior performance over skis in the same category is the perfectly balanced flex provided by the Trueblend Tour Woodcore. Two different types of wood (paulonia and poplar) are assembled to form a single core, placing stringers in varying amounts and lengths to create areas of different densities that allow the flex to be precisely controlled.

Carbon, on the other hand, is known to be the perfect material for achieving the extreme lightness required in mountaineering activities involving approach and climbing, and for dynamic light touring enthusiasts.
The new Zero G LT 80 weighs only 980 grams in the 171-centimeter size, fitting into the small circle of sub-kilogram skis demonstrating how the Blizzard R&D team has made sophisticated use of construction technologies. The ski will be available in five lengths (150, 157, 164, 171 and 178 centimeters) and gender-specific graphics.
