Columbia and Madhappy in collaboration for mental wellness
Columbia Sportswear and Madhappy, after the first collection born in 2022, today they launch their third outdoor collab. A new line of winter products and accessories that combines Columbia’s technologies with Madhappy’s distinctive design, resulting in a collection that is both functional and cool, with the intent of promoting mental well-being through outdoor living by providing comfort and warmth.
“Spending time outdoors, especially in winter, is critical for mental health,” says Mason Spector, co-founder of Madhappy. “This partnership aims to combine Madhappy’s perspective on mental health along with the Columbia outdoor brand, creating the perfect collection for everyone who wants to live outdoors this season. Our goal is to keep everyone warm, comfortable and optimistic.”
“We are thrilled to have explored Columbia’s archives to inspire our latest collaboration with Madhappy,” says Becca Johnson, Director of Special Projects & Collaborations at Columbia. “The main products in this collection, the Wallowa jacket and vest, were designed by our CEO in the 1970s. Madhappy’s message about the beneficial effect of mental health is perfectly manifested and we hope it will encourage more people to get outdoors.”
This collection features eight garments, including:
The Wallowa Quilted Jacket: named after the Wallowa Mountains in America, it is a jacket with down certified to the RDS standard, dual-access pockets, elastic cuffs and an adjustable drawstring hem. Custom graphic prints and a silicone-on-canvas chest patch add modernity to this garment, which first appeared in Columbia catalogs in 1978.
The convertible cargo pant: featuring Columbia’s Omni-Shield™ Durable Water Repellent technology, a long-lasting quick-drying technology that repels water and dirt, preventing liquids from seeping into the yarn and soaking or staining your clothing. The pant also features removable legs that turn it into shorts and an adjustable drawstring waist and closed snap pockets.
The Women’s Quilted Short Jacket: a winter garment designed with a two-way zipper located in the center that can be opened from either the top or bottom, providing greater flexibility and ease of movement. The jacket has elasticized cuffs and a hem to provide more comfort through a tighter fit, allowing the jacket to better conform to the body. Finally, all heat is retained thanks to Columbia’s Omni-Shield technology.
