F.Epis X Millet: A collection celebrating great mountaineering feats

Millet presents its new collection of F.EPIS x MILLET t-shirts, available in three vibrant colors and featuring unique graphic patterns, created in collaboration with Italian artist Federico Epis.

These t-shirts are specially designed to ensure maximum comfort for climbers facing hot weather conditions, and each graphic motif tells the story of a historic climb that marked the history of mountaineering.

The artist behind the graphic design is Federico Epis, a talented Italian illustrator based in Milan. His artistic works are inspired by the outdoors and adventure, reinterpreted through a vintage look that manages to maintain an innovative and contemporary feel at the same time. Drawing inspiration from nature and outdoor activities allows Epis to constantly feed his creativity, exploring new places, colors and atmospheres. His illustrations are often described as “cinematic,” as he seeks to create a feeling of depth and immersiveness. While possessing a unique and modern style, Epis is inspired by past Italian artists such as Antonio Ligabue and Fortunato Depero.

“I grew up in the mountains near Bergamo, exactly opposite Mount Alben, where Walter Bonatti began his mountaineering career. So I particularly enjoyed collaborating with Millet starting with an old photograph preserved in the company’s archives.”

Tapping into his undying passion for drawing, Federico Epis is now heading into digital art, and has created, among other things, the cover celebrating 100 years of Millet for our outdoor magazine, The Pill.

The Italian artist greatly enjoyed the collaboration with Millet, starting with an old photograph kept in the company’s archives. The collection includes a series of exclusive t-shirts inspired by different mountaineering feats. One of the graphic motifs depicts Yannick Graziani’s alpine-style ascent of the south face of Annapurna (8,091 m). This mountaineering feat was documented in our pages in 2013, and provided Millet with the opportunity to forge a collaboration with Federico Epis to create a unique t-shirt collection for the spring-summer 2023 collection. To accomplish this, Federico Epis took the photograph of Bonatti’s ascent and used it as the basis for creating two other graphic motifs depicting the mountaineering exploits of Reinhold Messner and Yannick Graziani. Millet had access to his own photographic archives, which allowed the artist to recreate these mountaineering highlights in detail.

Once again this year, the artist will exclusively sign our cover for trail running special #61 dedicated to the Millet “Up For Anything” campaign and the launch of the trail running collection. In addition, enthusiasts will have the opportunity to meet Federico Epis September 3 at the Maga SkyMarathon, at the Millet booth, where they will be able to take on four alpine challenges – Menna, Arera, Grem and Alben – and exchange a few words with the artist right in the Serina Valley, the place of origin that fueled his passion for the outdoors and adventure.
