H&M Move: the outdoors is for everyone
This autumn, H&M Move’s latest collection is challenging the notion that different outdoor pursuits demand different outdoor gear, the development of innovative and trademarked performance materials has in fact allowed H&M Move to further explore the belief that one great functional wardrobe can unlock a world of outdoor activities.
Materials
The materials we are talking about are called StormMove, ThermoMove and DryMove, and all of them hit the sweet spot between high performance, durability, design, functionality and affordability. To achieve this H&M Move worked closely with its textile mill partners to rewrite the manufacturing process, as well as designers at Grand Studio, the expert outdoor agency.
StormMove 3-Layer Shell Jacket
We had the opportunity to preview and try the new H&M Move’s StormMove 3-Layer Shell Jacket. We put it to test on a cloudy day we went hiking a well known mountain massif here in Northern Italy, rising up from the eastern branch of Lake Como and extending from the towns of Lecco to Bellano. The Grigna Meridionale (also known as Grignetta) reaches an altitude of 2177 metres and despite its modest elevation compared to larger mountains in the Alps, this peak offers alpine hikers, and even serious mountain climbers, a high altitude mountain hiking/climbing experience due to its steep and rugged calcareous rock formations which are reminiscent of the Italian Dolomites.
H&M Move’s StormMove 3-Layer Shell Jacket features a new material called StormMove which proved to be very breathable along the entire hike. We encountered some light rain on our way down and the jacket showed us its waterproofness and thermoregulation properties. We found the fit functional and comfortable, the taped seams are meticulously placed to allow great ventilation, the hood id adjustable while the side pockets provide generous storage.
StormMove, along with ThermoMove and DryMove, is part of a trio of new trademarked H&M Move innovations used throughout the entire collection: a range of high performance, technical and more sustainable outerwear that brings the many benefits of our outdoor spaces within easy reach.

With this, the brand is asking its customers to use this new collection of outdoor products however they move. Whether it’s reconnecting on woodland runs, recharging on mountain hikes or exploring a new city in the cold seasons, H&M Move’s multipurpose outdoor layers and unique material technologies are set to democratise our natural playgrounds and the ways we enjoy them. Not only that, but they’ll do so mainly using recycled materials and highly competitive price points.
The collection
The collection features relaxed silhouettes, organic-shaped cutlines and an earthy colour palette that is energised by lively pops of purple throughout. Key pieces include lightweight and technical StormMove jackets, padded ThermoMove vests built for easily layering up or down, and trousers with four-way stretch to hold no adventurer back from reaching their outdoor goals.
