Kayland’s history was born in high altitude, and it is to this kind of mountaineering that the K4 is proposed, a technical boot ideal for tackling heights of 4000m in particularly harsh climates. The upper features new impactful graphics. The fascia surrounding the boot and the toe box are made of Diamond Technology, an exclusive polyurethane material that offers an unprecedented degree of abrasion resistance. A rubber addition on the innermost surface provides more protection against wear from crampon use. Inside is a Gore-Tex Duratherm lining, one of the most thermally insulating, perfect for protecting feet even in the coldest temperatures. The comfortable, wide toe fit promotes circulation in extreme situations. K4s see a new lacing system that can be customized according to the intended use. The tongue features an overlap closure, with a single gusset that totally envelops the foot. This is complemented by an intermediate lace closure, a lace puller that offers the ability to keep the anatomy of the fit constant, and a Velcro and microfiber band at the top. All enclosed within the waterproof gaiter with easy zipper closure. Instead, under the heel we find a cramponable insert attached directly into the midsole for a more secure and stable grip. The outsole block features a polyurethane compound that can react to temperature changes. The Vibram Teton sole sits on an accentuated arch of the foot that facilitates downhill braking and “hooking” on rocks.
