Move to be green: the sports and nature event in the Gesso Valley

The Maritime Ecotourism Association has launched an exciting new initiative called “Move to be green,” an event involving various outdoor activities and sports in the Gesso Valley, in the heart of the Maritime Alps.

The main purpose is to make people understand, through sports and physical activity, that there is a close correlation between human well-being and the well-being of nature. The event will take place precisely over a weekend, precisely on May 27 and 28, 2023, and will feature a series of close-knit sports activities.

On Saturday morning, from 10 a.m., it will be possible to do the Via Ferrata dei Funs in Entraque accompanied by Global Mountain‘s expert guides. There is a fee of 20 euros for participation, subject to reservations on the Global Mountain website. In the afternoon, at 2 p.m., the Camilla Trail will be opened , where there are several land art works created along the trail. Also on Saturday, at 2:30 p.m. the MTB route “Ciclimatici” begins, starting from Roaschia and arriving in the historic center of Entracque, where finally refreshments by the Proloco await us. Along the way, the theme of climate change will be addressed through the words of park rangers at as many as 5 land art stations. Saturday evening will begin from 8:30 p.m. in Sant’Anna di Valdieri, where mountaineer Tamara Lunger will share her experience on the eight-thousanders she has reached. In addition, it will be possible to participate in a full-day surprise excursion to the Chalk Valley, thanks to the availability of 20 places drawn from tickets purchased by May 25. Sunday starts at 9:15 a. m. with the Trail Run “Sant’Anna – Valasco,” which at the end includes a lunch organized by the Proloco; the cost per participant is 12 euros and includes a race pack with typical local products. For those accompanying athletes, it will be possible to participate in a guided hike on the Lou Viol trail from 10 a.m. by booking through the official website. In the historic center of Valdieri, also from 10:00 a.m., you can meet Luciano Ellena and his mules, who will walk through the streets of the village giving authentic moments. At the same time at the Necropolis of Valdieri there will be two different activities for children: a hike with a park guide and nutritionist Michela Del Torchio, entitled “The Young Ibex Snack,” which talks about healthy nutrition during physical activity, or “climate change and sustainability” themed workshops. It will also be possible to have lunch from 12:00 noon at the Necropolis thanks to the Proloco refreshment service. Moving to Entracque, also at 10:00 a.m., there will be a choice of activities, such as pedaling in Graziella in the historic center with Cyclospherabike, or participating in“Sport Young Village” sports activities for young people who want to try something new. On the walls of the Piastra dam, thanks to the Gesso Valley Guides, it will also be possible to tryartificial climbing throughout the day by reservation. In the afternoon, “Move to be Green” becomes“White Moment” from 3 p.m., featuring the Gesso Valley’s promising young cross-country skiers and biathletes to learn more about the area’s winter sports.
