Salewa uses wool and textile hemp for new Alpine Life collection

Salewa strengthens its commitment to more sustainable production through the Salewa Alpine Life collection for fall 2022.

It is long past time that Salewa has been committed to manufacturing using materials that are sustainable yet high-performance. This is the case with Alpine Hemp, a fiber made from textile hemp, and TirolWool, a padding produced using the wool of Tyrolean Alpine and Villnösser Brillenschaf breed sheep raised in the Eastern Alps. Currently, these new natural fillings have replaced a good portion of the synthetic fillings in Salewa’s house.

“When we develop our fabrics we always start with how they work in contact with the skin. Then we go on to analyze long-term supply possibilities, making sure that we can always work transparently”, says Christine Ladstätter, special product & innovation manager.

Products in the collection include the Fanes Engineered Alpine Merino Hybrid jacket, the Alpine Merino Responsive Longsleeve Tee, the Fanes Hemp Denim Pants, and the Wildfire Canvas low-cut hiking shoe model. In short, a complete women’s and men’s outfit for the upcoming fall hikes.
