New lacing system for a historically successful model

SCARPA Ribelle Run Kalibra HT

When it comes to mountains and technical terrain, SCARPA is always been one of the most reliable and cutting-edge brands. The Asolo team, led by Marco De Gasperi, has this year brought an update to the classic Ribelle Run model, dedicated to the most demanding alpine terrain, and which in this new version, which will join the previous model, will be named Ribelle Run Kalibra HT. The main difference of this shoe from the traditional version is the BOA lacing system, which in the developers’ intentions should allow for an even more snug and precise fit. Lacing has always been a focal point in Ribelle Run, so much so that in the traditional version SCARPA provided both a traditional lace and a quick lacing system with a slider and Kevlar in the box, leaving the athlete to choose which one to use. In this version, the developers have instead sought to integrate even more precise lacing to a model that is already very technical in its own right. This led to a complete rethinking of the upper, which now uses a ‘wrap’ geometry, which wraps the foot around the instep, protecting it from BOA, but leaving that comfortable forefoot space that has always distinguished the fit of Ribelle Run, and SCARPA in general: it is not a wide fit, but comfortable and stable. Midsole unchanged and still very soft and suitable for any kind of support, just as the PRESA outsole has remained unchanged, with excellent grip and good durability extended to the entire tread surface.
