Schwan Stabilo Outdoor: Maier Sports and Gonso

Schwan Stabilo Outdoor: Maier Sports and Gonso – Schwan Stabilo Outdoor Italy strengthens its presence in the Italian market by adding, in addition to the management of
Ortovox
, two more brands: Maier Sports and Gonso.

The Italian subsidiary, which has been headquartered in Laives (BZ) in the Vurza Productive Zone, 43, since November 2023, has enthusiastically welcomed the group’s decision to entrust it with these two additional brands just two years after its founding (April 2022).

“Italy is a key market for outdoor and sports,” said Lothar Baisch, General Manager of Maier Sports and Gonso, “so as we have already done in other subsidiaries of our group, establishing the distribution and commercial and marketing management of our brands in Italy as well was an intentional and important choice; a challenge that we are enthusiastically going to take up together with the Italian team.”

Schwan Stabilo Outdoor Italia will therefore, as of now, flank not only the management of the Ortovox brand, but also the Maier Sports collections, a historic brand and leader in the specific segment of outdoor pants, with a range of products developed for hiking, hiking, and leisure, all the way to alpine and cross-country skiing.

“I was really impressed with the brand values,” said Stefano Finazzi General Manager of the Italian branch, ” the 100% recycled product, the size range that between men and women offers as many as 63 combinations to cover all fitting needs, an element not always considered in the outdoor segment, 5-year warranty on the entire collection, representing the extreme trust and reliability in the quality of the brand… I think there are excellent prerequisites for a market like the Italian one. We are really proud to represent the brand and start this challenge.”

Maier Sports will enjoy a distribution already present, albeit partially, with some specialized retailers in South Tyrol and Trentino, and the goal will be to expand the Italian distribution.

It is a different story for Gonso, a bikewear brand that is completely new to the Italian market. Acquired by Maier Sports years ago and, right along with the latter, incorporated into the Schwan Stabilo Outdoor offering in 2014, it presents a product that focuses everything on fit, specificity of the pads (SITIVO and SQLab) and cross-functionality, thanks to collections that cover the demand of the Road Bike, Trail and Gravel user.

“I got to try some of the iconic products,” said Andrea Spilotro Sales Account Manager Italy “The fit and quality of the materials really impressed me. With the SS25 season we are going to propose a completely new product and, above all, a completely new brand. Result of a rebranding work that goes from the logo, to the categorization of the products, to the marketing strategy. I am looking forward to approaching the market.”
