Team SCOTT’s Jackie Paaso’s new adventure

The American athlete, accompanied by a team of SCOTT mountaineers, completed the crossing of the 12 highest peaks in Sweden.

The aim was to climb and ski all the peaks over 2000 metres on Swedish territory, undertaking an itinerary of over 400 kilometres above the Arctic Circle that would lead to an unprecedented national first. The two SCOTT athletes Jackie Paaso and Reine Barkered, accompanied by mountain guides Erin Smart and Benjamin Ribeyre did not back down and without any kind of mechanical support, but only with sleds and cross-country skis, covered the 12 highest peaks in Sweden, divided between Sarek National Park and Stora Sjöfallets National Park.

It was a great expedition and, despite all the difficulties, we did what we set out to do and I am really grateful,” says Jakie Paaso. – says Jakie Paaso – We were out for 26 days, we had to work on unstable snow and bad conditions. It wasn’t easy at all. We could have given up at any time, especially towards the end when we were closest to civilisation. I’m really happy that this didn’t happen and I congratulate the whole group for sticking to the project right to the end”.

The four mountaineers’ feat became the fifth episode of ‘Freedom to Explore’, a series of short films produced by the athletes of the SCOTT Winter Pro Team, always on the lookout for new winter adventures.
