The third version of the Topo model dedicated to ultras in the mountains

Topo Athletic MTN Racer 3

MTN Racer is, from its first version, Topo Athletic’s shoe dedicated to mountaineering and long distances, which combined protection, comfort and a low weight of 280 grams in an excellent balance. The second version had been completely redesigned, especially at the top, with a much more breathable but generally thicker mesh that stiffened the shoe. It now arrives in its third version, with an upper very similar to the second version, but with a slightly revised midsole compartment. Internal volumes remain traditional Topo, so with a snug fit on the neck but very generous on the toe box. It is a breathable upper but very protective thanks to TPU applications distributed, so to speak, conscientiously: they are there where they are needed, but they do not weigh down the shoe one gram more than necessary. Comfortable collar and heel, where in the first version they tended to break after a few miles. The big difference between the second and third versions lies in the use of midsole foams: whereas before there was a three-density EVA, now there are two midsoles arranged one on top of the other, which are softer and overall more generous than before. Vibram Megagrip outsole with classic Topo tread pattern. It is a comfortable shoe, suitable for long mountain trails, and with improved runability compared to the second version. Although the shoe’s low drop and structure encourage forefoot support , we recommend it for a broad audience of runners seeking reliability on all terrain.
