ASICS: the impact of sport on the mind

ASICS demonstrates that sports inactivity has negative effects on our mental state.

What is the relationship between body and mind? How much does physical activity affect our mental well-being? what, on the other hand, is the impact of inactivity?

Finding the answers to these questions is becoming more and more important nowadays. The last two years have been hitting hard our mental balance and have forced us to find new ways of practicing and enjoying sports.

For this reason ASICS has been extremely active on these issues and has conducted two studies entitled “Mind Race” and “Uplifting Minds” which have provided surprising results.

During the first research, Professor Brendon Stubbs monitored the impact of seven days of refraining from exercise on thousands of participants who decided to suspend their sports routine.

The results showed a decrease in self-confidence by 25%, positivity by 16%, energy levels by 23% and in the ability to cope with stress by 22%.

But don’t panic…

Indeed, the research examined the participants even once they resumed their usual sporting habits and all showed an immediate improvement in their mental state.

This has been revealed by the Uplifting Minds study which, thanks to the use of a new technology to detect the EEG, capture the impact of sport on people’s mental health and relying on the data collected during the study, found that 15,09 minutes of exercise are sufficient to improve our mental state.

ASICS’ commitment to these issues represents the philosophy of the brand which literally is in his name Anima Sana In Corpore Sano, as Gary Raucher, EVP, ASICS EMEA wanted to emphasize.
