Bode Miller takes Cortina: SCARPA 4-Quattro

It’s a Wednesday in February like so many others in Cortina, skiers are drawing sinuous curves on pristine slopes in the early morning hours, the Dolomites are glistening under the shy winter sun and… Bode Miller has just arrived at the Cortina 360 Gym. Okay, maybe not just another Wednesday.

Scarpa
managed to once again bring one of the greatest sportsmen of all time and beyond to the mountains of his home. He recently developed a revolutionary boot with him : the 4-Quattro. Not that this is Bode’s first time on those slopes, mind you, he knows and loves the slopes as well as the cuisine and the Dolomites. In this new year, however, the purpose of his visit is not only aimed at skiing, but after two years of working on video calls he was finally able to shake the hands of those who, together with him, have completed an important journey of innovation and research in the backcountry.

Amidst the multitude of dreamy eyes of skiers young and old, it was company president Sandro Parisotto who welcomed him to a meeting room all proudly themed 4-Quattro. The same, proud to be able to pursue this important collaboration, explained of Miller’s role as a figurehead for the international dimension but not only that, the experience and engineering notions proved to be an important asset.

Bode, h
ow would you describe your relationship with Scarpa?

From my point of view, the evolution of a sport goes hand in hand with the development of the equipment used. The collaboration with Scarpa was a natural choice for me. Scarpa brings with them a long experience in product development, and I fully share their approach based on research andinnovation with great focus on sustainability and performance.

What was it like to contribute to the development and improvement of the 4-Quattro?

Scarpa is an international, leading ski mountaineering company, personally I am honored to have been chosen as a testimonial for their first hybrid boot. The collaboration to launch 4-Quattro is just beginning: together we can embark on a really interesting journey from now on. I tested the new boot in the field and gave my insights and advice, which turned into useful pointers for creating future models.

What are your plans and thoughts for the new year?

I am looking forward to working with Scarpa on projects related to ski touring and the backcountry world, it is a fast growing market and it is exciting to work with a partner with Scarpa’s experience and professionalism.
