Columbia’s Omni-heat Infinity technology supports U.S. return to the moon

Columbia Sportswear and Intuitive Machines have announced an unprecedented collaboration to apply Columbia’s Omni-Heat Infinity thermal insulation technology to the Nova-C lunar lander. This innovative partnership aims to support the development of new technologies and materials for a sustainable human presence on the Moon. Omni-Heat Infinity technology will be used to insulate the lunar lander from the extreme temperatures of space. The launch of Intuitive Machines’ Nova-C lunar module took place at 7:05 a.m. on Feb. 15, 2024 Italian time. This mission, called IM-1, will mark the first U.S. return to the lunar surface in 50 years. Columbia is excited to test its technology in new frontiers and looks ahead to spur further innovation in the field. To celebrate this historic collaboration, Columbia held an event in Las Vegas on Feb. 19 to highlight the key role of Omni-Heat Infinity technology during the IM-1 lunar mission.
