Jack Wolfskin’s circular economy

Jack Wolfskin, a pioneering sustainability company based in Germany, is promoting a circular economy in the textile industry through its “Textile to Textile” concept. This innovative approach makes it possible to produce highly functional clothing by recycling used clothing, cutting waste, and material scraps. Eleven patterns from the summer 2024 collection were made using this method, which involves removing nontextile components from used garments, chemically treating the materials along with the cutting residues, and processing them into PET granulate. This is then spun into polyester fibers, offering comparable performance to virgin polyester. The process also includes the removal of colors to allow subsequent dyeing. Jack Wolfskin also employs the Texapore Ecosphere membrane, made from production waste, following a ‘zero waste’ philosophy and demonstrating that functionality and sustainability can go hand in hand.
