K2’s new bombshell for ski touring!

K2 Wayback 89

Completely revolutionized and with a new look, K2’s Wayback 89 is the perfect ski for any age. This new collection introduces three revolutionary technologies:

  • “Ti Spyne”: an innovation that increases stability and shock absorption, typical in lightweight touring ski structures.
  • “Carbon Overdrive”-a unidirectional carbon fiber that has been integrated into the layups to keep the ski lightweight and highly responsive.
  • “Snophobic Topsheet”:water-repellent topsheet designed to prevent snow accumulation, helping to keep the ski light. The construction of the K2 Wayback 89 combines several materials, including Paulownia for the core, titanium reinforcements, and carbon fiber, all bound together with bioresin to emphasize the company’s focus on eco-sustainability. We were able to test it in a variety of conditions and in powder snow, the Wayback 89 offers exceptional buoyancy, demonstrating balanced and smooth handling in inversions on even the most challenging slopes. On the downhill, this ski provides pure fun, with optimal responsiveness and effective floatation, offering precision in turns. On the track or in hard-surface conditions, the new Wayback 89 is a revelation, offering precision and cleanliness at every stage of cornering. It is not overly nervous, and the even distribution of forces allows for balanced skiing. The radius of 19 meters makes it extremely versatile, able to provide fun in both tight and wide turns.
