Matteo Della Bordella aims for a new route on Siula Grande

The new Ferrino ambassador will attempt to open a new route on one of the most difficult mountains in the Andes together with the expedition of the Military High Mountain Section of the Army Sports Center.

Just a few days ago, the Ragno di Lecco Matteo Della Bordella set off on a new expedition. The goal? Opening a new route on the East Face of Siula Grande (Cordillera Huayhuash – Peru), which, we remind you, has a peak that touches 6344 meters. Matteo’s companions will be Marco Majori, Alessandro Zeni, Filip Babicz and Stefano Cordaro along with the expedition organized by SMAM (Military High Mountain Section of the Army Sports Center).

The Ferrino ambassador previously attempted to challenge the East Face of Siula Grande in 2017, but mountain conditions and other objective hazards led the expedition to take a step back, placing more value on safety and a future attempt with more forgiving conditions. Matteo describes the slope as “a beautiful rock shield, very steep and technically challenging. Definitely a complex wall, with a problematic approach on the glacier and all the difficulties of a high altitude climb.”

Supporting Matteo on this expedition will be some of Ferrino’s best equipment, including the Instinct 40+5 technical mountaineering backpack and the Blizzard 2 high-altitude tent. Both use Dyneema, a high-performance, durable and ultralight material.
