Set off on a wild Mission in the mountains of the southern part of Nordenskiöld Land, a Mission where everything counts! Splitboard, ski or snowshoe!

The tour starts with organizing supplies and equipment, then continues with a snowmobile ride of about 65 km, from Longyearbyen to Reindalen, one of the widest and most spectacular glacial valleys in Spitsbergen. We cross the Slakbree to reach the Van Mijenfjord.

Some guests will be required to drive snowmobiles, and for this reason it would be best to have prior experience in driving motorcycles, and for those who drive it is mandatory to bring their license with them.

At the end of the days activities you will have a chance to relax in the “Slettebu” lodge where you will be able to admire amazing views and local wildlife. Although the lodge is heated and comfortable, it is not equipped with toilets, showers or running water.

The lodge is located only 20 meters from the beach, and from it it is possible to admire both the fjord and the surrounding valley and mountains. Its location is strategic for the possibility of choosing multiple excursions in the surrounding area.

On this trip you will spend each day in the great outdoors: experiencing different types of terrain, including valleys, moraines, mountains and glaciers, then returning to the lodge in the evening. The mountains in this area-Gustavfjellet, Skalken, Lundgrenfjellet and Aspelintoppen-are all over 1,000 meters and offer incredible views of Van Mijenfjord and the eastern part of Spitsbergen.

“Splitboarders will be able to try out the splitboards provided by Nitro.”

When environmental conditions allow, you will be able to go directly over the frozen sea of the Van Mijenfjord to head to the Paulabree. It will be an unforgettable experience! From the end of March it never gets dark on Svalbard and you will be able to explore the area for much longer periods of time than usual!

Although Nordenskiöld Land National Park is relatively close to Longyearbyen, the area remains almost untouched to this day. This hike perfectly balances exploring remote areas by ‘snowmobile and splitboarding/skiing/snowshoeing among valleys and glaciers.
