Mizuno unveils the new Wave Neo Collection AW22
Mizuno recently unveiled the Wave Neo Collection AW22, a new eco-friendly running collection
With the arrival of the fall season, Mizuno has launched a new collection completely dedicated to running: the Wave Neo Collection AW22. Among the novelties, one stands out more relevant than others: Wave Neo Collection AW22 is also the brand’s first collection to be 100% eco-friendly. Wave Neo Collection AW22 responds to the need to provide sustainable alternatives so that we can experience activities in nature by respecting it even through our choice of purchases.
The stars of Mizuno‘s new collection are the two Wave Neo Ultra and Wave Neo Wind shoes. What gives them the eco-friendly title is definitely the use of sustainable materials, such as the technological components made of 100% recycled PET and the undyed upper. Also worth mentioning are midsole and Wave’s plate made of bio-based PEBAX, both of which are produced by processing castor beans, resulting in a 25% reduction in CO2. Other new features include the processing of Mizuno Enerzy Foam and the insole made from Bloom seaweed infusion. To do this, Mizuno uses a process that turns air and water pollution into a renewable plant biomass with thermoplastic properties.
In these cases, I think it is important to mention a few percentages to concretely understand the research work toward maximum sustainability in the production of these two shoes. For example, 70% eco-friendly materials are used for the Wave Neo Ultra, while the Wave Neo Wind conquers a good 60%. In addition, by not dyeing the upper, Mizuno has saved 100% water in the dyeing process. Overall, the production of Wave Neo Ultra and Wave Neo Wind results in a 10-13% reduction in CO2 emissions.
In addition to this new production aimed at lower environmental impact, Mizuno has decided to take another step toward sustainability by joining the National Forest Fundation. This, is a program that consists of planting two trees for every pair of Neo Collection sold, so as to offset the CO2 emissions derived from production.
