Altra’s shoe dedicated to long distances and mountains

Since its release, the Mont Blanc has become the flagship model of the Denver, Colorado-based company. Designed for very long distances even on the most alpine and rugged terrain, Mont Blanc maintains the traditional 0 drop, which in this case, however, does not become synonymous with minimalism, but is instead well compensated for by the very generous structure of the midsole, making it a shoe suitable for all types of runners. The upper features a rather stretchy and lightweight engineered mesh that is very comfortable to wear but somewhat less structured and protective than other Altra models. We liked the Ego Max midsole, a foam that can provide excellent energy return during false-flat running and cushioning just right on downhill runs and at low speeds. The outsole is made with a Vibram Megagrip Litebase compound, designed with an open slatted shape that traces Altra’s typical toe pattern and with very small, evenly spaced lugs throughout the sole. Grip is good on forestry and single track and also on wet, but tends to have some limitations on more technical terrain precisely because of the limited surface area of the sole. Compared with the previous version, we notice an improvement in the heel structure, and through the special lacing of the laces, an excellent fit is achieved at the heel. It is suitable for any distance, both for runners who can throw it by taking advantage of its lightness and responsiveness, and for runners who are looking for a larger-volume shoe with a midsole charge Of material that provides protection after so many miles.
