Running towards Adamello Ultra Trail with Ferrino

To mark International Women’s Rights Day, the Ferrino team will select ten female athletes to join the Ferrino Women Team. The winners of this contest will have the opportunity to participate in the Adamello Ultra Trail. The race will be held Sept. 22-24 in Alta Val Camonica and Alta Val di Sole in the Ponte di Legno area.

The selections will be supervised by multiple trail running champion Lisa Borzani, who will try to train and advise the young athletes regarding technical-athletic preparation and behavior during the race.

The athletes will be chosen at the 3 camps organized by TRAILored4You and surely the presence of the two-time Tor des Géants winner and her advice will be of great help to the young athletes, who will see in Borzani a source of inspiration and motivation.

The 3 camps that female athletes will have to go through in order to participate in theAdamello Ultra Trail are scheduled for April 10, June 17 and 18, and July 15, 2023. Runners selected during the camps will receive Wild cards, which will allow them to participate in the race representing the Ferrino Women Team: two for the 100 km middle distance and eight for the 35 km short distance.

The company itself will provide them with the necessary equipment to give their best in the race and aim for the best result, also because this is a race where the course is very demanding, passing above 2,000 meters in altitude. Ferrino shows its commitment to including women in the world of wilderness running. This initiative began about 10 years ago with the founding of the Ferrino Women Team: a team made up of ordinary women such as students and mothers, but at the same time, accomplished athletes.

By now, women cover 60-70% of Trailored4You course participants, and more and more are getting into trail running but not participating in races. This is why Lisa Bolzani says, “I think initiatives like this are valuable in bringing a few more women to the start of races.”
