PrimaLoft expands offerings of down alternatives with new loose-fiber insulation
PrimaLoft has unveiled two new high-performance insulation solutions, expanding its offering of alternatives to synthetic down. PrimaLoft Insulation ThermoPlume+ and PrimaLoft Insulation RISE Loose Fill emulate the performance and aesthetics of natural down while integrating the benefits of PrimaLoft synthetic fibers into an environmentally friendly product. Brands such as adidas Terrex, Rab, and Nike have already included these innovations in their fall/winter 2024 lines.
ThermoPlume+: greater loft and structural integrity with less material
PrimaLoft ThermoPlume+ is a new alternative to synthetic down that emulates the warmth, puffiness, softness, and compressibility of natural down, but with additional benefits. This innovation, which uses 20 percent less material than PrimaLoft’s previous ThermoPlume technology, combines two types of fibers to improve swelling and thermal capabilities. ThermoPlume+ combines sail-shaped fibers with fiber spheres to create a compact structure that retains warmth and softness. This wash and wear-resistant structure dries quickly and does not lose effectiveness even when wet, thanks to its fluorocarbon-free water resistance. In addition, being made entirely from recycled materials, ThermoPlume+ offers a sustainable and vegan option to down.
Loose-fiber PrimaLoft Rise: high-performance, lightweight and resistant to compressibility
Introduced in 2020, PrimaLoft Rise technology has distinguished itself as a padded insulator for its balance of lightweight warmth and durable compressive strength in various thicknesses. Expanding on this innovation, PrimaLoft has developed Rise Loose Fill, a bulk version of the insulation that retains the same thermal performance, weight, compressive strength, and swelling as high-quality natural down, making it an ideal vegan alternative. Made entirely from post-consumer recycled materials, Rise Loose Fill offers 650 fill power, ensuring style, warmth and comfort.
