Neon Noir

After a long wait and quite a bit of blood, sweat and tears shed, the latest Korua-branded film, “Neon Noir,” is finally available online. The film has received a wide range of positive feedback and support since release from snowboarders of all ages, backgrounds, and genders who have given their praise for a film that is based simply on how much fun it can be to shoot in the snow.

How the project came about

In the heart of Japan in 2012, a group of friends conceived the idea for Korua Shapes, inspired by the unparalleled snow there. “Neon Noir” is an ode to the places and experiences that ignited the spark for this extraordinary cinematic adventure.

From Japan to the Swiss Alps, the film tells a story of contrasts, exploring the differences between two worlds thousands of miles apart. While the Japanese snow is the epicenter of the film, Switzerland offers a completely different setting-dry and historical. This contrast is the starting point for exploring oppositional themes and discovering the similarities between the two beloved destinations: the towering Swiss Alps and the serene hills of northern Japan, with the vibrant chaos of Tokyo.

“Neon Noir” boasts a colorful cast and team of friends, riders and creatives, including Nicholas Wolken, James Niederberger, Spencer O’Brien, Runar Hjörleifsson, Atsufumi Mizuno and Daria Fuchs. Directed and edited by Eliel Hindert, it is an exploration of two cultures that, although thousands of miles apart, are connected through the act of riding mountains.

The film is much more than an ordinary snow movie: “It is a dialogue of moments and impressions, a narrative dancing in the light and shadow of Elle’s lens, capturing the essence of our shared experiences” reads the description of the film. “Ihe heartbeat of Neon Noir lies in its ability to condense everything we have absorbed in a few weeks into a coherent visual experience that at times seems frantic and urgent, and at other times calm, patient, and peaceful“.
